What the hell. What is it about Frank Miller's so-called graphic novels that seem to REQUIRE horrible acting when turned into a movie? Sin City...300...now The Spirit. Now, before you get all riled up about Sin City and 300, I'll admit that they had some redeeming factors: 300 was pretty good with some great action (seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZPRf8qL8h0&NR=1 )--and Sin City had Jessica Alba.
The Bad: How much voice over can a movie have? I think there is a correlation between voice over and bad acting. The more voice over there is, the less time there is for bad acting. I almost feel like its purposefully done in this movie to hide all of the crappy lines.
SAMUEL L. JACKSON IS NOT A GOOD ACTOR! He does not make a film--never has. Someone is gonna say "but Pulp Fiction! Pulp Fiction!"...shut up, you are stupid. And who in the world is Gabriel Macht? You'll find out why you've never heard of him if you watch this movie.
Oh, and the story...boring. But if you must know, here is the synopsis: Guy has powers. Guy doesn't know how he got powers. Guy uses powers. Guy finds out how he got the powers. The end. Imagine the Bourne Identity + black and white - good acting - action = The Spirit. The
Good: Eva Mendes.
